Jean was best know for the track Paradise, released on Santic records. It was also featured on her 1983 album, Feelings. She had recently started performing again, singing at Brixton Academy last year.
I met her in her later day job capacity, working as a health visitor in Rotherhithe, and she was a lovely woman.
Here's a couple of tracks to download from the Feelings album (ripped from vinyl, so quality isn't great): Wake Up (mp3); Change (mp3)
does anybody know what did Jean Adebambo died of ?
ReplyDeleteI know that lots of people have been visiting this site looking for more information about Jean - in fact yesterday more people visited this site than ever before on one day, and most of them were searching for this kind of information - an indicator of just how much her death has touched people. There are various rumours on the internet about Jean's death, but I would prefer not to add to the speculation - there hasn't been an inquest yet, so it's not possible to be sure.

ReplyDeleteLilly...My thoughts and love go out to the family of a very special lady, who i played with as a child. In hearing this news, i am saddened, but feel privileged to have known Jean throughout our childhood years, even then she was singing to Diana Ross...

It was with a great sense of loss we heard of Jean's death. We would like her family to know they have our greatest sympathy, and our hearts are truly saddened. Jean was more than just a wonderful person; she was always so kind, warm and considerate to all.
ReplyDeleteWe know her passing will not only leave a void in our lives, but in the hearts of all those who knew her.

Jean’s funeral was on Thursday 29th January 2009. It was attended by friends, family and celebrities. Jean and I were at South Hackney School in the same year and very good friends. I pray that Jean’s soul rests in peace and send my condolences to her family. The Church service and gathering was great.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite songs by Jean Adebambo are “Hardships of life” and “Paradise”.
