Tonight there will be a Critical Mass cycle ride to mark the recent deaths of cyclists in rush hour traffic in London. The ride will vist two sites close to each other in Southwark where cyclists have been killed by lorries in recent weeks.
David Vilaseca, Catalan writer and queer activist, was killed on the junction of Druid Street and Tower Bridge on February 10th (memorial below). He had just left his home on Tooley Street.
On February 9th, Muhammed Haris Ahmed, a 21-year-old medical student at King's College London, was killed a few hundred metres away on the junction of Weston Street and Snowsfields, SE1 (flowers there pictured below). He was on his way to Guys Hospital.
Friday's Critical Mass starts at 6.00pm on the South Bank under Waterloo Bridge, by the National Film Theatre.
