A reptilian monster is lurking in the depths of the lake on Peckham Rye, terrorizing passing wildfowl... or not. This terrapin seems to be just chilling out on a wooden island floating on the lake. I wonder how did terrapins become established in the park - were they deliberately introduced or did someone just abandon their pets?
A Bedouin tent in West London

Between a terrace of houses and a traditional English church in Mortlake,
West London is a surprising mausoleum. Not only is it much larger than
might be...

The terrapin/turtle is probably a relic of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of the 1980s & 1990s. They were bought as pets but outgrew their tanks and were 're-homed' in ponds. The lowest of the ponds at Keston used to have loads of them, although I have noticed fewer of them in the recent past.
