At tonight's Radio 2 Folk Awards, the best song award was given to Chris Wood for 'Hollow Point', a sad song about the killing of Jean Charles de Menezes by police at Stockwell underground station in 2005. The song mentions his last fateful journey from Tulse Hill and on through Brixton to his death in the tube station.

Well deserved too. Saw him at the Larmer Tree last year; it's a long song in the true ballad tradition but held the audience captive and silent throughout. Very moving.
